What Lionel sees – Sam Boswell
coming to work Friday
morning, Lionel sees
the suicide
jump at Claisebrook
station and still makes it to the cafe
(a little late)
he is quiet, can
not match anyone’s
welcoming call,
stands motionless, reliving those frames,
then drives words as if
from a nailgun
with tears spattering, too,
so this mounting storm
breaks out back,
not in front of an
audience of silenced
customers hankering
for coffee
