I’m not wrapped up in it at all She ate from the Gingerbread House too, but her breadcrumbs weren’t to find her way home. She wanted her playmates to follow her deep into the woods, make a banquet out of gumdrops, candy canes, and vanilla icing. She pretends she never consumed pieces of the cookie cottage, like she wasn’t making backdoor deals with the old cannibal. She says she escaped being a meal, never fell into Berchta’s wicked trap— the bite marks on her arm and neck still bleed.
